Matthew T. (Matt) Chambers
Obituary

Lewiston Teller
Lewiston, Idaho, July 9, 1896

Matthew Chambers, a pioneer of the Order of 1862, passed the last divide last Sunday at two o'clock. He had been a sufferer for several years from heart trouble and the excessive heat of that day overcame him. He complained of great pain for an hour and then the end came. Mat, as his friends familiarly speak of him, had been identified with the progress of this vicinity very intimately. He had never learned to husband his resourses in the days of his strong manhood when he carried the best rewards for faithful services and in the immediate past his lot was that of the poor, but honest man. He leaves a wife and four children who reside in Waha, where the family has lived for about ten years. Matt Chambers was 61 years old and a native of Ohio. He was interred in the city cemetery Monday at 2 o'clock. The associates of his pioneer days honored his memory by the last duties to man; they followed him to his grave with the evidence of their sorrow in the clouds on their brows.
