Well-Known Indian Dies.

Judge James Grant, a prominent member of the Nez Perce tribe of Indians, died Monday night at his home about one mile from Lapwai, aged 74 years.

Judge Grant has been connected with the agency service for about 40 years and he was a very influential member of the tribe. He secured the title of "judge" when officiating as judge of the Indian court during the days that the Indian police method was in force. He was active in church work and was a member of the Methodist South organization. The funeral will be held at ten o'clock this morning from the church at Lapwai.
