Mr. Jerry M'Guire, Well Known Asotin Pioneer Dead

Asotin, Wash., August 4.

Jerry McGuire, an honored pioneer resident of Asotin county, died at his home today on Asotin creek. The deceased had been ill for some time with cancer and it has been realized by the family that he could not recover.

Mr. McGuire was born in New York in 1824 and was therefore in his seventy-ninth year. He came to Lewiston in 1862 during the Idaho mining stampede and later located in Asotin county, he being one of the first settlers in this section of Washington. He followed stockraising extensively and enjoyed a large acquaintance throughout eastern Washington and northern Idaho. He leaves a wife and one married daughter, the latter being Mrs. Wm. Boozer, of Mohler, Idaho.

The deceased was a member of the Nez Perce County Pioneer association and the interment will be made in that city, although the funeral arrangements were not concluded today.
