Lewiston Morning Tribune Tuesday, November 29, 1921 Pioneer Woman Is Called By Death Mrs. Celia Martinson Passes Away at Age of 85 - Was Resident of Lewiston 43 Years. With the passing of Mrs. Celia Martinson, who quietly departed this life at an early hour yesterday at her home at the corner of Sixth and C streets, another of Lewiston's oldest pioneers has gone to her reward. Mrs. Martinson was 85 years of age and had spent 43 years in Lewiston. She crossed the plains in 1877, the year of the Indian war, and settled in Lewiston in 1878. She, together with her family, have been history-makers in this community. A husband and two sons have preceded her to the life beyond and the only surviving relative is Ed O. Martinson, secretary of the Elks club. Ever ready to help those in need, a friend to all, a beautiful home keeper and even in her declining years interested in civic affairs, Mrs. Martinson leaves a host of friends who will recall her with kind remembrances. Funeral services will be held at the Vassar chapel at 2:30 o'clock tomorrow. Rev. D. J. W. Somerville will officiate.
Lewiston Morning Tribune Funeral Will Be Held Today Mrs. Martinson to Be Laid to Rest Beside Husband. Funeral services will be held today at 3 o'clock at the Vassar chapel for Mrs. Celia Martinson, who passed away at her home Monday. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Normal Hill cemetery. Rev. D. J. W. Somerville will officiate. Mrs. Martinson was one of Lewiston's oldest pioneers and it is expected that all of the pioneers of the city will be present at the services today. Notice to K. of P. Members of the Pythian lodge are asked to be present at the funeral services of the late Mrs. Celia Martinson, at Vassar chapel today at 3 o'clock, whose son, E. O. Martinson, has long been a member of Excelsior lodge No. 2, and former officer. |
