Melissa Dollie Moffitt
Obituary

Lewiston Morning Tribune
Tuesday, March 28, 1916 Funeral Held Here.

The remains of Dolly, the nine-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Moffitt, prominent residents of Lapwai, where Mr. Moffitt serves the Camas Prairie railroad as depot agent, were laid to rest in the Lewiston cemetery yesterday. The little girl died at the family home Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock, death being due to heart trouble. Dolly underwent an operation last fall for appendicitis, and since that time had never enjoyed her usual good health. The only services held were at the burial ground, where Rev. De Partee, of the Methodist church at Lapwai, pronounced the sermon. Dolly was one of the most popular girls of her town and her loss will be a sad one to her many little playmates and those of her elders. The bereaved parents have the sympathy of all their neighborhood. The remains were followed to this city by a funeral cortege of several cars, the following making the trip with the grief-stricken father: R. R. Richmond, William Siegrist, Newton and Edwin Lyle, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Bramlette, Mr. and Mrs. Norman Wann, Fred Clarke, Peter Parkins, Mrs. T. D. Barton, Mrs. D. J. Wyatt, and Rev. De Partee.
