Owen Nugent Passes On

Native of Ireland Was Early Locator On Reservation Lands.

Owen Nugent, 70, pioneer farmer of the Reubens section, died at St. Joseph's hospital Sunday morning at 3 o'clock. He had been ill for eight weeks. Mr. Nugent was a native of Ireland and a sister and brother still live there.

When first come to America as a young man, he was a machinist at Philadelphia for several years. He then began railroading and followed this occupation until shortly after the Nez Perce Indian agency was thrown open to entry. He held approximately 700 acres of land near Reubens.

He is survived by a brother, Frank Nugent, Reubens; a brother, Hugh, and a sister, Mrs. Bridget Nugent, both of Ireland; a sister, Mrs. Ellene Nugent, and a nephew, Pat Nugent, Alberta, Canada.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 7:30 o'clock from the St. Stanislaus Catholic church, the Rev. Father Ball saying mass. The body will then be returned to the Vassar parlors and at 1 o'clock will be interred in Normal Hill cemetery.
