Amos Shafer Dead.

Former Lewiston Resident Passed Away at Yakima Yesterday.

Amos Shafer, for many years a resident of Lewiston, died yesterday morning at 9:10 o'clock at Yakima as the result of an operation performed Saturday. Mr. Shafer left Lewiston about three months ago, when he disposed of the Lewiston dairy and was engaged in farming on a small tract purchased near Yakima.

He was about 34 years of age and had spent the greater portion of his life in Lewiston. For a considerable period he conducted a grocery business on east Main street and was later in business in Yakima, but returned about a year ago to engage in the dairy business. He is survived by his mother, of East Lewiston; his wife, two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Hand and Miss Nita Shafer; two brothers, W. Porter Shafer and Parker Shafer. He was a member of the Lewiston lodge of Odd Fellows and the remains will be brought here today for interment. The funeral arrangements will be announced tomorrow.
