Influenza Claims J. South

Former Cottonwood Blacksmith Passes - Pneumonia Develops.

Joseph South, 56, died at the family home in North Lewiston shortly before midnight Saturday, this following an attack of influenza contracted several days before. For many years he resided at Cottonwood, where for about 20 years he conducted a blacksmith shop, and was among the best known and highly respected residents of Idaho county. The family came here recently to take up their residence. He was a native of Iowa.

Surviving are a widow, four sons, Verne South, Caldwell; Willard South, New Meadows; Floyd South and Robert South, of this city; five daughters, Mrs. Charles Houchens, Clarkston, and Mrs. L. A. Inghram, Mrs. K. H. De Norville, Miss Leona South and Miss Vivian South, of Lewiston.

He was a member of the Knights of Pythias and D. O. K. K. orders.

The body is at the Vassar parlors awaiting arrangements for burial.
